The Desktop Bridge is an optional companion for capabilities that a browser extension cannot provide on its own. The Moxby extension remains the primary interface.
What the Bridge provides
- Supported ChatGPT and Claude subscription authentication.
- Approved access to local files and desktop applications.
- Computer capabilities that require operating-system access.
- A secure local connection between the extension and supported native features.
When it is available
The Bridge is available after you start a trial or use an eligible paid plan. The free extension can use free Marketplace Mods without the Bridge.
Install and pair
- Start a trial or confirm your paid plan.
- Download the Bridge from the authenticated Moxby setup flow.
- Install and open it on your computer.
- Return to the extension and complete pairing.
- Use the model selector to connect ChatGPT or Claude.
Security
Only approve capabilities you understand. Keep the Bridge updated, verify the Moxby account and browser profile before pairing, and review sensitive actions before they run.
If pairing fails
Confirm the Bridge is running, update both the extension and Bridge, reopen the extension, and try pairing again. Company security software or managed browser policy can block local native communication.
